This October, Peggy and I are lacing up our walking boots and setting out on a special challenge – walking 60 miles to raise money for the RSPCA as part of their Walk on the Wild Side event.
Why? Because October is a crucial time for wildlife. Deer are busy during rutting season, baby hedgehogs are desperately trying to build up enough weight to survive hibernation, and grey seal pups are making their first appearances, needing shelter and safety. Meanwhile, every single hour, another wild animal needs the RSPCA’s help.
That’s why we’ve taken on this challenge – to raise vital funds so that the RSPCA’s inspectors, vets, and wildlife experts can be there when animals need them most. My goal is to walk at least 60 miles throughout the month and raise £100 to support their work. Along the way, I’ll be exploring the Yorkshire countryside, soaking up the beauty of nature, and hopefully spotting some wildlife.
Here’s how your support can make a difference:
-
£10 could help answer a call about injured wildlife.
-
£25 could help provide food for an animal recovering in RSPCA care.
-
£50 could help towards the cost of rescuing and rehabilitating a wild animal in need.
Every step we take brings us closer to helping wildlife across the UK – but we can’t do it alone.
